William Wain 20th Century Costume Jewellerys

Over recent years, William had gradually expanded his vintage collections, to include a unique range of poured glass and resin jewellery, notably inspired by vintage classics. These pieces are handmade, using traditional materials and techniques once favoured by French artisans producing jewellery for the great fashion houses. Colour and form are both carefully designed/crafted to give each piece a contemporary twist to complement today’s trends.

A carefully chosen range of fabulous vintage handbags from the 1900’s through to the 1970’s (some are earlier!) are presented which complement and highlight the jewellery. As with the jewellery, the collection has been developed by producing individual/one off handbags from original components – an original frame, original fabrics and detailing , made in striking and unique designs. These bags are made from a variety of sumptuous and beautiful fabrics, including velvet and moire, the insides being as outstanding as the outsides. They are fully branded , carrying William’s own label, discreetly stitched into the inner pocket of each bag, in much the same way that couture fashion has always worked.

During 22 years of business, William Wain has sold to a wide variety of clients, from international collectors to discerning individuals to celebrity, including Catherine Deneuve, Maria Schriver, Charlotte Rampling, Jo Wood, Tascha de Vasconcelos, Plum Sykes, and Rachel Zoe amongst others. Designers such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Ungaro, and Manolo Blahnik have bought pieces to use as inspiration for their collections.

Added to the above, Willam has amassed a collection of vintage couture Chanel, Dior, Givenchy jewellery from the 1930’s to the 1960’s, which has been lent to various publications and exhibitions. In particular, ‘Jewellery of The Haute Couture’. an exhibition and book from 2006, the exhibition of which plans to travel to Hong Kong and Australia in 2010.

The William Wain collection offers beauty, craftsmanship and detail not seen in many of today’s designs, coupled with a contemporary style and wearability, and is constantly sourcing new and exciting items from around the world, to complement the existing collection.
